Renovation of the old G.N.R building. - GNRation.
It is a set of two buildings with three floors, two courtyards and a patio, with three street fronts, occupying a significant area of one block located in the centre of the city, in one of its most emblematic squares, the Praça Conde Agrolongo, which is already properly requalified. The façade facing the Praça Conde Agrolongo is marked by its sobriety and rigor in detail, reason why it did not undergo major alterations. The same was not true of the Avenida Visconde Nespereira façade, which, given its simplicity, had its windows “torn” to the pavement, thus giving it notoriety. Because it was a rehabilitation, the intention was to maintain the historical identity of the building, reason why the demolitions were reduced to the indispensable - necessity of structural reformulation, reorganize fragmented spaces and necessity of generating larger spaces. In the outdoor area, courtyards, a steel structure was created, disconnected from the façades, thus allowing the passage of the infrastructure necessary for the comfort and well-being that a building with this purpose should provide. To make it more appealing, an arrangement of plants in vases was created in the outer courtyards.
