Ilha da Graciosa - Açores
Graciosa Energy System
Parques Solares
Data Sheet
The Graciosa Energy System project is the first worldwide hybrid energy system, constructed on the Graciosa Island of the Azores Archipelago, with up to 100% of energy sourced from renewables, such as wind and solar, stored in batteries, and that will define new standards in this area for islands all over the world. The system structure will be made by an innovative energy management system developed by the German company Younicos, which will allow to dispense with the conventional thermal power station for energy adjustment. It is an innovative project at the global level in the command and control of power generation systems using renewable sources in isolated power distribution networks with the potential to be a standard of integrated energy generation solutions.
The project is based on the integration of wind and solar production with an installed capacity of 4.5 MW and 1 MW, respectively, complemented by an energy storage system composed of a set of state-of-the-art batteries, which will allow the storage of 3.2 MWh.
