The Espiga wind farm is located in the northern part of Continental Portugal, in the Espiga mountains, municipality of Caminha, in the district of Viana do Castelo. The wind farm is comprised of 3 wind turbines with an output capacity of 2 MW, connected to the wind farm switching station through underground electric cables, and thereafter connected to the REN substation by overhead lines. The wind farm has about 3,600 m of access roads. Some 4,800 m of longitudinal drainage, 48 transverse drainage units and an environmental upgrade of about 9,500 m2 area was also carried out. In addition to the execution of a switching station, 1,200 m of cable trenches was executed, as well as 3 platforms with about 1,400 m2 each, for support to the assembly of the wind turbines. About 1,000 m3 of concrete, 99 tons of steel and 7,800 m3 of CABC (Crushed Aggregated Base Course) was used.
