S. Paio Wind Farm

The S.Paio wind farm is located in the northern part of Continental Portugal, in the S.Paio mountains, municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira, in the district of Viana do Castelo. The wind farm is comprised of 5 wind turbines with an output capacity of 2 MW, connected to the substation through underground electric cables, and thereafter connected to the REN substation by overhead lines. The wind farm has about 4,500 m of access roads. Some 6,500 m of longitudinal drainage, 62 transverse drainage units and an environmental upgrade of about 17,000 m2 area was also carried out. In addition to the execution of a substation building, 2,600 m of cable trenches were carried out, as well as 5 platforms with about 1,400 m2 each, for support to the assembly of the wind turbines. About 1,800 m3 of concrete, 170 tons of steel and 10,400 m3 of CABC (Crushed Aggregated Base Course) was used.
