The contract consisted in the construction of overhead and underground cableways and the installation of fibre optic cable to interconnect 38 municipalities in the northern part of Portugal, known as the Transport Network or Backbone. Also part of this work was the construction of an access network whose function is to interconnect the POP to all the houses of the most central areas of the municipalities covered. We built 36 POP (point of presence), which is the transmission centre where the active equipment is placed and allows the network to function and interconnect the houses.
