The establishment of the Centre for Mechanical and Biological Treatment of Urban Waste of the Gesamb, Resialentejo and AMCAL Systems in Beja was carried out in a location adjacent to the sanitary landfill, in an area connected to the Resialentejo Complex, and to its power and telecommunications systems, existing water and fire suppression distribution, waste water and leachate networks. The Building is developed in an enclosed building with 12,263 m2, with two different ceiling heights. This design as an enclosed building will avoid the negative environmental impact of any odours resulting from the operating of this type of infrastructure, the air inside being collected and treated in the biofilters before being sent to the exterior, by a specific deodorization system for this type of facility. The infrastructures (Drainage, Supply, Electricity and Telecommunications) interconnect with their respective existing networks in the Resialentejo Landfill complex. A social building was also built to support the management of the unit and facilities for the workers.
